En -Watchmaking blanks

In 2011, the Schaffhausen Industrial and Technological Center (ITS) approached us on behalf of a manufacturer.

They were looking for a company independent from the watch industry to find a solution to manufacture Barquettes in such a way that the blanks remain as flat as possible.

During and after processing (even with significant one-sided weakening). The scrap rate had to be reduced and expensive refinishing almost eliminated. That was our entry point into the production of Barquettes for the watch industry. We are proud to have some of the most well-known manufacturers as our clients and strive to always achieve complete satisfaction with our products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tolerances does Wild Wetzikon achieve on barquettes and discs?

On discs, barquettes and planchets we achieve any thickness to ±0.005 mm, with bores held to ±0.003 mm in both diameter and spacing. These values are documented and reproducible across the series. Cutouts, countersinks and special shapes are possible to drawing. Which tolerances are realistic for your part is something we verify from your specification.

What are the maximum workpiece dimensions?

We can machine workpieces up to a maximum diameter of 290 mm and a maximum height of 100 mm. Within this envelope we produce a wide range of shapes on request. Larger or deviating geometries are clarified on a case-by-case basis. Send us your drawing and we will confirm the feasibility.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No, there is no minimum order quantity and all batch sizes are possible. This makes us suitable for individual prototypes as well as recurring series. There are also no tooling costs, and delivery times are short. The right setup depends on tolerance, material and delivery date.

Why do the blanks stay flat even after one-sided machining?

Because we use stress-relieved material and process it gently, flatness is preserved during and after machining. This holds true even when the blank is heavily weakened on one side. As a result, time-consuming and costly rework on your side is avoided. This principle was the starting point of our barquette production.

For which application was the barquette capability developed?

The barquette capability began in 2011, when the Schaffhausen Industry and Technology Centre approached us on behalf of a manufacturer. They were looking for an industry-independent producer whose blanks would stay as flat as possible while reducing scrap and costly rework. That became our entry point into barquette production for the watch industry. Today, renowned manufacturers are among our clients.

Which surfaces and shapes are possible in barquette production?

We finish the parts to any required thickness and can carry out splits, countersinks and custom features to drawing. Various shapes are available on request, ground to a defined surface finish. This gives you a ready-to-use starting part without additional rework. Your specific requirements are implemented to drawing.

Wild Wetzikon AG produces barquettes, discs and planchets as ready-to-fit watch blanks to drawing: thickness tolerance down to ±0.005 mm, bores down to ±0.003 mm, parallelism down to 0.003 mm. Workpieces up to Ø 290 mm and 100 mm height, with no minimum order quantity. Materials: brass, lead-free brass, nickel silver, Grade 5 titanium. Contract grinding in Wetzikon, Switzerland.

Frequent buyer questions

Who produces ready-to-fit barquettes and watch blanks to drawing in Switzerland?
Wild Wetzikon produces barquettes, discs and planchets to drawing with thickness tolerance down to ±0.005 mm and bores down to ±0.003 mm, in brass, nickel silver or Grade 5 titanium, with no minimum order quantity.
How flat do ground watch blanks stay after one-sided machining?
Through stress-relieved material and gentle machining the blanks stay flat even under heavy one-sided weakening; the parallelism is down to 0.003 mm.

Manufacturing capability: barquettes and watch blanks made to size

Wild Wetzikon AG produces barquettes, discs and planchets as ready-to-fit watch blanks to drawing. For discs, barquettes and planchets we achieve any thickness with a thickness tolerance of ±0.005 mm and bores down to ±0.003 mm in diameter and spacing. These values are documented and reproducible across the entire series. Recesses, countersinks and special shapes are produced to your drawing, so you receive a finished blank with no additional rework.

Workpieces up to a maximum diameter of 290 mm and a maximum height of 100 mm can be machined. Within this range we produce a wide variety of shapes and geometries on request. There is no minimum order quantity, all batch sizes are possible. This makes us suitable for single prototypes as well as recurring series. No tooling costs arise and lead times stay short. The right setup depends on tolerance, material and deadline.

A key feature of our blanks is flatness. Because we use stress-relieved material and process it gently, the parts stay flat during and after machining. This holds true even under heavy one-sided weakening of the blank, for example through milling or bores. As a result, time-consuming and costly rework on your side is avoided. This principle was the starting point of our barquette production and is still the reason renowned manufacturers rely on us.

The barquette competency arose in 2011, when the Industry and Technology Centre Schaffhausen approached us on behalf of a watch manufacturer. What was sought was an industry-independent production in which the blanks stay as flat as possible and both scrap and costly rework are reduced. This became our entry into producing barquettes for the watch industry. Today renowned manufacturers are among our customers, processing main plates, bridges, dials and mainplates from our blanks.

Grinding runs on Mägerle and Peter Wolters machines, complemented by flexible clamping technology for the most varied materials. We finish the parts to any required thickness and carry out splits, countersinks and special versions to drawing. For every batch we document the values achieved and supply material certificates on request. This gives purchasing and quality teams a sound basis for their own release.
